The Achievia
Tutoring Reading Program revolves around three key areas:
Phonics, Vocabulary, and Comprehension. A fourth, supplementary
category, Reading Rate, can be taught for students who study
with us for enrichment purposes.
The
program teaches phonics, word structure, context, vocabulary
(including prefixes, suffixes, synonyms, antonyms, homophones,
root words, sight words, etc), and comprehension skills
from K - 12. We even look at skills that lead to accurate
comprehension: factual information, the main idea and passage
organization as well as how to make inferences and draw
conclusions. We focus on rereading and self-correction strategies.
